“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”
– Robert Louis Stevenson

When you’re home, your feet trace familiar paths, the routine of daily life.  It’s the same every day, and therein lies the comfort.

Travel is a way to step outside of your comfort zone, to go somewhere where there are things so similar and so dissimilar that you see the things you take for granted in a whole new light.  It pulls out the best and the worst in a person.  It’s a time when you learn how you’ll really react when things don’t go quite as you’d wish them to be and a time to revel when things go perfectly.  It’s a moment when you stand in a place where, for the rest of your life, you may never stand in again.

Travel changes a person, pushes them, molds them, humbles them, makes them interesting.  It gives them stories to tell, hilarious ones, tragic ones, and ones that are a little of both.

It is life-changing.

Home is where the heart is, but sometimes, it’s ok to take the long way home.
