“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”

Hi everyone!  So, it’s been a while since I’ve given this site a bit of an overhaul. Over the next few weeks, you’ll see a few changes.

Travel, even slow travel, is quite time-intensive. There have been many times that this website and it’s accompanying blogs haven’t been my first choice when it came to spending my time, and I know it’s suffered for it. Now that we’re back, I’ll actually have time to dedicate to this website.

I’d like to keep updating about our entire trip (I know we left off somewhere in Croatia), more for my sake as I know memories have a tricky way of fading without permission. I’ll also be updating the map to reflect our entire trip. Rick’s busy with school, so he’s handed management of Rick vs. Food to me. He did eat a lot of fun and interesting things over the course of our trip, so I’ll be updating with pictures & descriptions. If you’re curious about some of my opinions about hotels we stayed in or some of the attractions we liked, you can check out my TripAdvisor profile.

I’m also planning on putting together a short video about our trip, so keep your eyes peeled for that around the end of the year.  I also hope to open up this website up as a general travel site, so I’ll be updating the resource pages also around the end of this year.

Thanks for everyone’s patience as I get organized and for sticking with me!  Have a good week!

Rick Vs. Food

Rick loves to eat, and he’ll try pretty much anything at least once.  He’s extra excited to try all the new & interesting types of food on offer in our upcoming trip (thank goodness for cast-iron stomachs) and he wanted a way to document all of his munchies.  First, he’s starting with the yummy food found in our local neighborhood plus some gourmet recipes he makes himself.  Check it out at his Rick Vs. Food tumblr.  It’s a bit sparse at the moment (1 post), but he has lots of posts planned.

This is his first blog ever, so give him some encouragement!  He’s planning on starting a proper travel blog once our trip is underway, so this is sort of his way of dipping his feet in the blog-waters.

46 days until our trip.  Yikes!
